Following on from the success of the first Talent Day back in November, the Jaguar Academy of Sport delivered, in partnership with Double Gold, a second Talent Day for our rising Stars, hosted by Olympic Champion and Academy of Sport Patron Dame Kelly Holmes.

The Talent Day, which is part of the unique Mentoring and Education programme the Jaguar Academy of Sport provides for our Rising Stars, allowed the legendary Patrons and Ambassadors to share their expertise to help inspire our young, aspiring athletes.

The main theme of the day was to discuss the importance of an athlete's support team. The Day was attended by a number of Patrons and Ambassadors, such as Tasha Danvers and David Roberts, with special appearances from British Cycling Performance Director, Dave Brailsford and British Cycling Psychiatrist, Steven Peters.

Dave Brailsford began with his 'Building a Successful Team' presentation, which detailed how he created and maintains the highly effective teams who support the Team Sky road racing team, and the prolific British Cycling team.

British Cycling psychiatrist Steven Peters, who has revolutionised British sport with his mind games, gave a powerful and influential talk to help the athletes understand how humans think and behave, and how to relate that to the Sporting world.

In the afternoon, the athletes attended a workshop called 'My Team', where they were given the opportunity to explore ways in which their personal support team could be improved.

The Rising Stars later teamed up with a member of the Mentor Team (Tasha Danvers, Adam Whitehead and Anna Hemmings), whilst the parents learnt from Hilary Coldicott (Next Generation Coaching) how to be an affective team member for their child's success in sport.

The recent 2010 Jaguar Academy of Sport Special Recognition Award Winners, Sheree Cox and Kelsie Gibson, also received one to one mentoring from Olympic and Paralympic Swimmers, Nick Gilligham and David Roberts.
