Jaguar Academy of Sport Member Marlon Devonish and Rising Star Rhys Walker opened the Motoring Record Breakers Exhibition at the Heritage Motor Centre, which celebrates some of the fastest, slowest, smallest and most economical record breakers from over the years.
The Jaguar Academy of Sport is delighted to be involved in the launch of this event as it includes the fastest Jaguar in the world, the XFR Bonneville. Many of our Patrons, Ambassadors and Members are record breakers themselves, and they support and inspire Britain's next generation of Rising Stars, who hope to surpass their previously established records.
Marlon Devonish, a British sprint athlete best known for winning gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics in the 4x100m relay, launched the event at the Heritage Motor Centre and revealed his prestigious gold medal which he exhibited to a selection of school children on the day. The truly inspirational sporting item is one he is striving to win again in this summer's Olympic Games.
Jaguar Academy 2011 Special Recognition Award Winner and badminton player, Rhys Walker hopes to follow in Marlon's footsteps and is already on his way to achieving great things. The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games bronze medalist was on hand to help open the exhibition and talk about his future hopes and dreams.
The exciting new exhibition will run from 11 February up until September, and visitors will have the opportunity of exploring vehicles that created new horizons and take a journey into history with a selection of vehicles that have helped change the face of motoring.
Marlon Devonish, Jaguar Academy of Sport Member commented: "I am delighted to open this event which celebrates the best of Jaguar and the record breaking cars it has developed over the years. The Academy is all about supporting our next generation of sporting greats and it is great to be involved."
