About the Jaguar Academy of Sport
The Jaguar Academy of Sport, backed by some of the biggest names in British sport, showcases some of the most successful British sports stars, marks outstanding achievements and sporting moments, and identifies and provides funding for Rising Stars which we hope over time will help produce our future greats.
The Jaguar Academy of Sport recognises, celebrates and inspires the very best of British sporting talent and success. This is a long term commitment to support the next generation of British champions, by bringing together the Academy's Rising Stars and the nation's most celebrated sportsmen and women, sports media and prominent business figures to create a unique Best of British sports club.
The Academy of Sport Bursary
At the heart of the Academy of Sport is our unique Bursary Programme. Each year, our Patrons and Ambassadors work with SportsAid to select the Academy of Sport's Rising Stars. These young athletes, typically aged between 14-24 years old, are those who demonstrate the greatest potential, real dedication to their sport and an outstanding desire to perform and succeed.
Bursary Awards help support our Rising Stars with equipment,
competition and training expenses. More importantly, each Rising
Star also becomes a member of the Academy of Sport's Mentoring and
Education Programme, which we hope will inspire each of them to go
on to become a future British champion.
This unique programme brings together the insight and experience
of our Patrons and Ambassadors to develop specific skills within
our Rising Stars. The programme includes Workshops, Talent Days and
One to One Mentoring, working not only with the young athletes but
also their parents and coaches.
As a testament to the programme's success, 40% of the 2010/2011 Rising Stars have now progressed to full lottery-funding.
Patrons And Ambassadors
Jaguar Academy of Sport Patrons and Ambassadors include many of the greats of British sport, whether still competing or former legends. Their example is an inspiration to young sportspeople as they freely share their knowledge, experience and advice on moving from 'good' to 'great'.
Members
Members include reigning Olympic, World and European champions in a variety of sports, as well as many international team members. Members are closely involved at the grass roots of the Academy of Sport's work, promoting it among Jaguar dealers and customers and building links between young sports people and their local communities.
Media Panel
The Academy of Sport's objective voice, featuring writers, broadcasters and commentators with a passion for British sporting achievement. Chaired by Colin Jackson CBE, the panel includes representatives from the country's top sports media, including television, radio and print. It is an impartial forum for decisions on bursaries and membership.
Advisory Board
Chaired by Lord Digby Jones, with distinguished members including Tim Lawler, CEO of SportsAid, the advisory board manages the Academy of Sport's bursary fundraising activities and provides direction on the Academy of Sport's development.
