The Academy Mentoring

The bespoke Mentoring and Education Programme for Jaguar Academy of Sport Rising Stars is delivered by Kelly Holmes Education. The programme supports 50 Rising Stars each year, selected by SportsAid to receive the education and mentoring programme alongside their bursary award. Their selection is based on their potential assessed by their National Governing Body of Sport, dedication and outstanding desire to succeed at the highest level.
The programme involves a series of educational days and workshops throughout the year for both Rising Stas and parents/carers, to support the Rising Stars to achieve their dreams of becoming the next generation of British Sporting Champions. Each of the Mentoring and Education days are attended by at least one Jaguar Academy of Sport Patron, Amabassador or Member, who have first-hand experience of the material being delivered.
2011 Rising Star of the Future Crystal Lane went on to represent GB at the London 2012 Paralympics, she said:
"The education workshops we attended as Rising Stars were great, really informative and it is such a unique education programme. I would say the most useful was definitely the anti-doping session, which was so valuable as my career has progressed."
The modules covered include:
Dealing with the media, being world-class, financial and life planning, my team, external influences on performance, mind training, goal setting, physiotherapy approach to injury, anti-doping, presenting yourself to sponsors, celebrating success and nutrition for performance.
Each year The Jaguar Academy of Sport honour five Rising Stars with a Special Recongition Award at the prestigious Jaguar Academy of Sport Annual Awards. The five winners each receive a twelve month one-to-one mentoring programme with a former British Champion, to share their experiences and knowledge of what it takes to reach the top. The former winners of the award include Jade Jones, London 2012 Olympic Taekwondo Champion.
